Handwritten Change:
Director
(January 2017 to Present)
Kate serves as a Director for Handwritten Change, an organization that works to connect people to their state representatives, allowing a mass-involvement in today’s politics. Our goal is to encourage the people of our nation to stay in contact with their senators and representatives by writing letters and making phone calls. One of the best ways to make your voice heard is to engage your congressional representatives because they are concerned with reelection and local media exposure. Handwritten Change allows all people to engage in their local politics in four easy steps:
Handwritten Change allows all people to engage in their local politics in four easy steps:
- Pick a topic you’re passionate about from our Projects list.
- Write a letter or email to your state representative. If you don’t know how to put your ideas into writing, that’s ok! We have created sample letters that you can edit to fit you!
- Follow up with a call to your representative- it helps enforce your message. Don’t know what to say? Don’t worry, we wrote a script for the call too!
- Log your letters and phone calls through our Letter Confirmation form. The more documented contact made to a representative, the sooner they have to respond.
